ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Adil Boutahli was born on February 7, 1985, in Fes, Morocco, and was raised in the city of Ifrane.

He immigrated to the United States in 2009 after being selected through the Diversity Visa Lottery Program.

In January 2014, Adil survived a violent armed robbery during which he sustained multiple gunshot wounds that resulted in a spinal cord injury and paralysis.

After extensive rehabilitation, he discovered wheelchair tennis, which became both his passion and his path to recovery.

He has competed in numerous national and international wheelchair tennis tournaments throughout the United States, Europe, Canada, and South America.

Adil earned degrees in Information Management Systems, Business Administration, and Business Management, completed Human Resources certification, and pursued graduate studies in Homeland Security.

His dream is to represent Morocco at the Paralympic Games and inspire others through his journey of resilience, perseverance, and hope.

He currently lives in New Jersey and continues to train, compete, and advocate for adaptive sports.
